The Great Stone Book
Aprox. 51 x 62.5cm
"Mountains provide a venue where it was possible to brows the archives of the earth- the 'great stone book', as it became called." -Macfarlane, Mountains of The Mind.
This work came from a personal project based around my relationship with Mountains. This artist book is an exploration of the connection between the mountains and the sublime.
Through choice of colour, medium and material my work encapsulates the contrast between terror and delight induced by sublime sights. This choice of contrast also helps to create an atmosphere of immense scale, as with large shadows and an aesthetically colder climate, a large scale is suggested despite the actual size of the work.
